The Rossburn Lions Club will sponsor a dental clinic at Rossburn Elementary School on November 15th to 26th. This year three dentists and three technicians will serve students, expanding services but raising costs. Community groups are asked to participate. donations may be mailed to club treasurer Harold Metcalf.
Rossburn Figure Skating Club met November 3 at the Elementary School with eight mothers present. Diane Stacey may be hired as instructor to teach lessons in Pelly Trail School Division, likely Saturdays. New officers elected include President Joyce Smycnnik, Vice President Alice Hryciuk, Secretary Vi McKietiuk, Treasurer Helen Aylwin. Meeting adjourned on Pearl Sector’s motion.
The Rossburn Hospital Auxiliary held a Oct 26 meeting at Anne Slows with eleven members present. Vi McKietiuk read minutes, Linda McFadyen elected secretary, Janice McFeeters resigned. Bursary awarded again, Bazaar plans finalized, Hallowe'en games enjoyed, next meeting Nov 23 in Hospital Board Room.
Mr and Mrs John Skabar of Elphinstone Manitoba celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on October 30 1971. Married in Olha Church in 1921 they spent most of their years in Elphinstone where he worked as a barber. They have six children twenty five grandchildren and one great grandchild. A party with family friends and a church service followed by dinner and a reception at the Catholic Hall marked the occasion.
A Rossburn Collegiate event showcased guitar lessons with 19 students led by Mr. Wally Peleshok and Ukrainian folk singing and dancing options. Additional courses announced include Ukrainian crafts, Easter egg painting, knitting, and buck weaving with several instructors named. Recreation grants cover Archery and Arts in Inglis Elphinstone Rossburn programs. Ladies meet weekly for weigh-ins and exercise. hockey coaching clinic, led by Bob Kabel, promises a future Russel session.
Transportation policies for the Pelly Trail School Division cover parents teachers pupils and the public. Rules include no eating on buses student lists seating plans for rep transport and authorization for town trips. Violations go to principal central office or police. notices to parents and staff are issued.
The RC I boys dominate the Grandview Invitational, beating Grandview, Roblin, and Yorkton to win the first annual Grandview Tournament. Rossburn, Roblin finals went Roblin’s way, while RC I girls fall to Yorkton in the final 15-4 and 15-7 after defeating Grandview B, Grandview A, and Roblin en route.
