Dr G Erickson outlines a new continuous progress approach at Rossburn Elementary School replacing traditional grade level pacing. Bright students advance by level while slower learners stay within their social group, with narrative progress reports and future junior high streaming to occupational or regular grades.

Rossburn Chamber of Commerce to Hold Annual Meeting

The Rossburn Chamber of Commerce announces a meeting on Thursday, November 23 at 2:00 p.m. in the Rossburn Town Hall basement. A nominating committee led by C Walmisley L Andrew and Robi Pritchard will present a proposed slate, with nominations welcome at the meeting. Guest speaker Mr Fisken from the Department of Education will discuss Adult Education courses. The organization reports 60 members split evenly between businesses and individuals, and Cheese Factory loan certificates sold total 48725.

Shoal Lake Hospital District approves Rossburn expansion plan

Three tenders were submitted to the Shoal Lake Hospital District No. 7 for alterations and addition to the Rossburn Hospital. H Komhyr Construction of Rossburn won the base bid of 35895 dollars. Construction will begin in one to two weeks with funding assistance from the Hospital Auxiliary and Rossburn Collegiate Student Council.

Pool Elevator Annual Meeting Highlights Grain Growth and Leadership

The Rossburn Co-operative Elevator Association held its annual meeting on Thursday November 2 in the Town Hall. Attendees included 140 members and guests. Bert Frieze received the First Prize Award in the Elevator Improvement Competition. The report noted a total grain handling of 313,433 bushels, up from 278,278 the prior year, with a $5 652 31 surplus to allocate. New board members elected include L C Johnston Nick Maryniuk Ed Shust Ken Caldwell and Joe Borowski.
