Community notes record visits and illnesses across Winnipeg Brandon Shoal Lake and Elm Creek with marriages and recoveries. A Manitoba sighting describes a greenish white ball shaped object seen near 6 p.m. on Sunday October 24 with Garry VonHagen among witnesses.
A quiet wedding united Marion Seal destiens and Peter Pomehichuk in the United Church Minnedosa area. The bride wore a white sheer gown with a train length veil and carried white lilies. The groom’s brother attended, a wedding dinner followed at the bride’s home and a reception at Rossburn Town Hall. The couple later honeymooned in Winnipeg and returned to Rossburn. Henry G. Birks was elected president of the Canadian Chamber of Commerce at Vancouver meeting.
Funeral services were held for Henry Birkett Brown at Wesminster United Church Shoal Lake on Monday October 25 conducted by Dr P N Murray Newdale. He died at his brother Jack Brown's home in Moline on October 20 after a long illness. A respected Oakburn resident he was in his 79th year. Pallbearers were George Menzies John D Black S H McLean Albert Campbell Neil L Simpson and J W Smith.
