Untimely Death of Lorne Plant
Lorne Plant a Birdtail district farmer died suddenly October 27 at 3 a.m. in Sacred Heart Hospital Russell. Born January 3 1900 at Ranchvale he was the youngest of five children of John Plant pioneers. He married Georgina Proutt in 1927 and farmed at Birdtail, active in many groups. He served as Bryan School board trustee and Rossburn Manitoba Farmers Union director, and was a longtime CCF supporter. Surviving are widow Georgina a son Laverne at home a daughter Vivian Ruth Winnipeg two brothers George Birdtail Frazer Port Arthur Ontario two sisters Ella C York Birdtail and Hildred Winnipeg. Predeceased son Eugene in 1932. The regular monthly Rossburn Hospital Aid meeting took place Monday evening in the hospital nurses quarters. Members attended and discussed operating sock requirements. Mrs. Bert Mitchet delivered the convention report.

25th Wedding Anniversary Celebrated Saturday
A 26th wedding anniversary was solemnized at St Michaels Church Otha on Saturday October 29 at 5 00 o clock when Mr and Mrs Peter Woychyshyn renewed their marriage vows. Attending Mrs Peter Woychyshyn was Mrs Mark Ziemanski as bridesmaid. Best man was Mike Shwaluk. Rev E Olynek officiated. A banquet followed in the Hall with best wishes expressed by several attendees. A dinette suite, silver tea set, purse of money and a three tier cake marked the celebration. About one hundred people attended the reception and a dance closed the evening. Out of town guests included Bill Witrikowski Sask and Milowsk i Sask, Anthony Peech Brandon, Walter Wasaluk Brandon, John Shwaluk Shoal Lake, Mel Shwaluk Shoal Lake.

Local Farm Union Meet in Rossburn Manitoba
The Manitoba Farmer's Union Rossburn Local held its regular meeting on October 20 in the Legion Hall with about fifty attendees. Speaker Mr Galensky outlined 1955 farm union achievements and delegates were elected for the Provincial Convention in Winnipeg, December 5 to 7.

Shower Honors Bride Elect At Ukrainian National Home
A miscellaneous shower was held on Friday October 28 at the Ukrainian National Home for Miss Jean Skavinsky bride elect of November. Jean received a corsage and was escorted to a decorated chair while her mother Mrs. Joe Skavinsky and Mrs. Paul Chegus sat nearby with corsages. Gifts circulated among about 130 attendees. Jean offered thanks and a dainty lunch followed. Ralph Stitt brought a parsnip measuring 25 inches into the office on Wednesday morning.
