The Rossburn 12 and under baseball team thanks town residents for bottles donated at last Saturday’s drive. Appreciation is given to Wally Perchaluk for collecting the soft drink bottles. The drive raised 35 dollars.
Miss Joy Brown of Winnipeg spent the long week end with Mr and Mrs S Brown. Miss Helen Miller of Winnipeg stayed with her mother Mrs Miller. Mr and Mrs B Clayton and boys visited Mr Clayton of Gladstone. Hugh Armstrong Foster and Willis Stitt planned a Winnipeg trip. Mr and Mrs Len Baker of Winnipeg visited last week with Mr and Mrs D Baker. Miss Lynn Barlow of Shoal Lake visited her parents. Remember to reserve Friday evening June 7 for the religious program in Vista United Church.

The Angusville Cardinals top the Northwestern Manitoba Baseball League standings as reported by league secretary Jack Kostiak. Despite poor weather delaying many games, the leaders have completed six contests this afternoon.
As Hospital Board chair I summarize a recent water and sewerage review. The well water holds, the main pump runs almost continuously, and pumps could fail soon. A new sewerage system may be required if inspections demand drastic action, especially if a Health Inspector visits under wind conditions.
Elaine Trakalo daughter of Basil and Mrs. Trakalo of Sifton married Steve Dmyterko son of Mrs. Mary Dmyterko of Brandon on Saturday May 18 at the Dauphin Ukrainian Catholic Church. The bride wore a dreamy organza gown with three dimensional rosettes and a pearl crown. Attendants wore aqua organza dresses and pink daisies. Reception held at Jerry's Nite Spot in Dauphin with local attendees from Dauphin.
The Rossburn District Hospital Board urges a yes vote to fund a temporary private disposal and water system for the hospital. The board notes higher operating costs for private setups and a limited life of about ten years compared with a municipal system. Chairman J. G. Stitt signs the appeal.
A Rossburn joint meeting of the Game and Fish Association and the Golf Club met May 16 with eight members. Motions covered adoption of minutes, ULC stamp permit, paying Lorne Tanasychuk for gravel hauling, expense policy, a $200 loan repayment, and Fishing Lake zoning talks. Also announced were Bingo winners, cottage raffle, upcoming swimming classes July 22 to August 2, and a Silver Dollar Bingo for June 21 at Fishing Lake.
Samuel Carson aged 78 of 27 Hargrave St. died May 16 at Misercordia Hospital. Born in Rossburn Manitoba he farmed at Kanadahar Saskatchewan then moved 23 years ago. Survived by daughter Mrs. James Carson two grandchildren one great grandchild a brother Jack of Nipawin Sask three sisters Mrs. Rachel McKinnon Winn ipeg Ontario Mrs. Nell Murat Waterford Ontario Mrs. Jack Lindsay Rossburn Man. Wife Grace predeceased him in 1955. Remains sent to Wynyard for funeral services and burial last Monday May 20 Bardal Funeral Home in charge.
Maria Skavinski, 18, daughter of Mr and Mrs John Skavinski of Port Arthur, received the Soroptimist Foundation Award of 500 at the Eastern Canada Region annual conference in London Ontario. She will compete with winners from nine countries of the Soroptimist Federation of the Americas. She traveled by plane to the conference and returned by car with local delegates.
Rossburn Senior baseball beat Fox Warren 14 1 Wednesday with Tom Carson taking the win. The same club then defeated Elphinstone 11 4 Sunday as Kowal earned the victory and the Rossburn roster notes a 16 1 victory over Russell Friday. The Rossburn Midgetball squad opens with a 7 4 win over Cardale and a 7 3 loss to Strathclair before a 10 1 win over Erickson in Rossburn.
