Brandon Students Enjoy Circus Elephant Rides Day Trip
A kindergarten class from Rossburn Elementary visited Brandon on May 14. They toured Little Cactus Farm and the University museum before arriving at Keystone Centre for the circus. They later stopped at McDonald’s and Pizza Hut before returning home with stories of elephants ponies tigers clowns and high wire acts.

Village Budget Triggers Small Residential Tax Rise and Bridge for Businesses
The Rossburn budget 1993 increases residential and commercial taxes by 3 mills overall. Residential bills rise slightly from $1,802.34 to $1,811.97 due to lower assessment, while commercial taxes jump from $2,039.84 to $2,125.07. The village cuts the business tax rate from 4 to 2 percent this year and plans to fully eliminate it in 1994.

Manitoba Phone Service to End Party Lines in Binscarth
Crews from the Manitoba Telephone System will start laying 112 kilometres of cable in the Binscarth area this week as part of the Service for the Future program. The project aims to end multi party lines by 1996 and expand toll free areas, offering modern telephone service to all Manitobans. Glen Treffry, MTS Southwest general manager, says the initiative is the largest in the company’s 80 year history.
