Rossburn Collegiate Holds Closing Exercises in Hall

About 250 attended the Rossburn Collegiate 1952 Closing Exercises in Rossburn Hall on Tuesday May 20. The event featured the invocation by Velma Hamilton, remarks by Mr. Hutton, performances by Gwen Snider and others, a speech by C D Voigt, and awards for top scholars and curling champions before a dance ended the evening.

Card of Thanks From Canadian Order of Foresters

The Canadian Order of Foresters thank Mr. and Mrs. C. A. Menzies for use of their Show Room and help at a Saturday tea and prize draw. Gratitude to Mr. F. Steele of Vista for a donated painting. Mrs. Jim Harlow won it and Cliff Hamilton of Birdtail won the fur. Lunch was provided by the C.O.F. ladies, with total funds around eighty dollars. Ben Cormack, Secretary.

Agricultural Society Plans for Rossburn Fair

Directors and associate directors of the Rossburn Agricultural Society will meet in the Club Room on Monday May 26 to discuss plans for the annual exhibition and sports. The cancellation of cattle sheep and swine exhibits is announced but the Rossburn Fair remains popular and must adapt to maintain its established event.

Oakburn 4-H style event at Ukrainian National Home Hall celebrated the Willing Workers sewing group. Miss Jean Thompson awarded red ribbons to eleven members from the 1951-52 class for judged work. winners include Roxie Hrytsak Gloria Melnyk Sonja Malanchuk and others.

Hospital Aid Organized for Oakburn and District

A Hospital Aid group formed at a Parish Hall meeting on Wednesday evening May 14. Officers elected include President Mrs. John Hrytsak, Vice-President Mrs. Paul Hersak, Secretary Mrs. William Schwaluk, Treasurer Mrs. Stanley Boroci, and committee convenors Mrs. J. W. Smith, Mrs. Tony Kalynovitch, Mrs. William Lazaruk, and Mrs. William Luhowy.

Pte Bill Charney Returns from Korea with Canadian Brigade

Pte Bill Charney son of Mr and Mrs John Charney of Rossburn, is among thirty four soldiers of the 25th Canadian Infantry Brigade who returned to Manitoba and Northwestern Ontario this week, announced by Command Headquarters.

Rossburn Awards At Music Festival Victory List

The Western Marquette Music Festival returned in Russell this year with Rossburn School entries across spoken poetry choral reading music and folk dancing. Awards include multiple first place finishes in spoken poetry and choral reading with top honors for Grade VII VIII choir and awards in solo and folk dance events.

Rossburn Queen's Day Tourney Opens June 9 With Prizes

Rossburn's first annual Queen's Day Baseball Tournament is set for Monday June 9 a Dominion Holiday. sponsored by the Rossburn Senior Baseball Club prize money totals 280 with 125 for first 80 for second and 40 each for third and fourth. a dance at night features Dane McIntyre's Orchestra. admission 75 cents adults 25 cents under 14. Northwest Little League may fail to form a league this season. Rossburn seniors beat Angusville 6 5 on May 13 with games at Binscarth May 21.
