Burial for James Cherwonick in Rossburn Ukrainian Catholic Church

He was 61, born in Ukraine, a longtime CN worker, and survived by his wife Albina, four sons, a daughter, four grandchildren, and a brother in Chicago. Funeral services were held at the Rossburn Ukrainian Catholic Church with Father Olynek officiating.

The North-Western Juvenile Baseball League opened May 2 in Angusville with Rossburn and Angusville tying 6-6 after a 6-1 Rossburn lead faded. May 5 at Binsearth, Rossburn fell 10-1 to Angusville as Willy Berejewski pitched a one hit game. May 8 at home Rossburn beat Birtle Indian School 11-10 in a tense contest with John Mitchell homering and Keith Stitt driving in the winning run.

The Manitoba Farmers' Union reports 650 meetings across the province in six months and membership rising to 25,000. Central Office organized sessions with speakers, creating 323 locals from corner to corner, with 1610 new members last month. Twelve new locals started in April.
