Work crews in Se eatin Seedy will convert 138 male line customers on the Oakburn exchange to individual line service. The change enables optional Custom Calling features such as Call Waiting.
Agriculture Minister Glen Findlay planted a tree at the Manitoba Legislative Building to kick off May as Garden Month. Attending were Landscape Manitoba director Gordon Bone Environment Minister Glen Cummings Natural Resources Minister Harry Enns and Landscape Manitoba officials Bernie Leclair iar-Lothar Behnke Keith Lemkey Evelyn Crosbie and others. The observance proclaims May to celebrate horticulture and green-plant planting by national provincial and municipal governments.
The Rural Municipality of Rossburn announces the tender for a new administration building has been awarded to Kelsey Construction Ltd of Winnipeg. The project totals 163 571 plus GST with 15 000 for property purchase demolition and consulting. Funding comes from the Capital Replacement Reserve. completion set for August 31.
Parkland West Economic Development announces the hire of Heide as the new economic development officer replacing Nasewich. Heide, who earned a Masters in City Planning from the University of Manitoba, will assist Rossburn Russell Roblin Grandview and Swan River groups with organizational development and regional economic programs. He began May 11 and will use the Parkland West office space, visiting communities and engaging in local development activities.
On May 13 at the Rossburn District Health Centre Auxiliary event thirty participants braved chilly winds to support patient and resident comfort. Funds raised will aid purchases for the centre as auxiliary members announce the latest donation toward continued care.
