The Manitoba Association of Registered Nurses marks Nurses Week May 11 to 17 with the theme Partners In Change. The observance highlights nurses' challenges and ongoing role as quality caregivers. Manitoba nurses plan activities to inform the public about nursing and its role in health care.
The Club West Bantam Girls from Birtle Russell Rossburn Foxwarren defend dominant season winning 14 straight at Dota Collegiate Wi. Coached by Dan McCaig with assistants Bowley and Radwanski, they beat Darwin 15 1 17 15 to seize the first Bantam Provincial Championship.
Antonow and Mackedenski led a list of area administrators recognized for long service at the Manitoba Municipalities Association 61st annual convention in Winnipeg April 26 to 29. Pins were awarded for 30 plus years, with others noted for 22 to 24 years and shorter tenures across multiple municipalities. The event also marked leadership as Mr Buhler served another term as president.
The R M of Rossburn council approved the 1992 budget with a small mill rate increase for residences and farmland. It reduces assessment portions to 47.0 percent on residences and 27.0 percent on farmland, with mill rates rising from 61.0 to 62.5 for residences and 50.8 to 53.3 for farmland. commercial remains 71.4 to 73.9.
Federal minister Pierre Blais recognized volunteers for their time and talents, noting 5.3 million Canadians contribute 27 percent of those over 15. The message highlighted Volunteer Week held April 26 to 2, and stressed volunteerism keeps organizations running and is a key contribution.
