Rural Council H olds Routine Wing Meeting At Rossburn

The Rural Council met in Rossburn on May 9 1961 with Reeve M J Sotas and councillors Morley Brown William Hyra Mike Pawluk and Fred Posmituck present Minutes from the previous meetings were read and adopted A financial report for April 30 1961 was approved The council agreed to hire John McKietiuk as road construction foreman for the 1961 season at 1.00 per hour and approved payment to Dan Buternows ky of 70.00 for maintenance of John Dmyterio from January 1 May 31 1961 including clothing purchases It was agreed to advertise for tenders to install an oil furnace in the Municipal Office A letter to F Melnyk Construction re gravelling was authorized A list of lands liable for Tax Sale was to be prepared for the next meeting Bills totaling 21071 45 were passed The council adjourned to meet on June 13 1961 at 1 pm.

Monster at Silver Beach Still At Large After Weekend Angling

The Monster at Silver Beach eludes anglers despite weekend attempts. Harry Salega of 616 Redwood Ave Winnipeg hooked a 844 lb Pickerel Saturday afternoon. Sunday cottages opened but the midnight dance was canceled due to the death of Mrs Stefanishyns father, Mr J Milanchuk, in a car crash on April 23.

Rossburn Dominates Anguville and Foxwarren in Baseball Wins

In Rossburn last Thursday the Midgets beat Angusville 5-2 with Richard Locke on the mound. Tuesday at Foxwarren Rossburn crushed Foxwarren 8-0 behind George Silewich. Riding Mountain Bears beat Rogers 10-8 at the local park with Mike Ryztylo winning. Rossburn edges Russell 4-3 in the seniors, Kowal delivering the key 2 run hit in the first league game.

Grandma Rubeniuk of Rus sell and Miss Pat Ross stayed with the Rodeck children. They all returned home on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Harry Salaga and two children of Winnipeg came up last Friday bringing her father Mr. Bert Penonzek home who had been a patient in Victoria Hospital. Ronnie Ferguson RCMP is home on holidays from Radisson Sask with his parents Gordon and Mrs. Ferguson. Their daughter Mrs. Ed Kilimnik of Elphinstone is home for Mother's Day. Miss Margaret Angus went home from Misericordia Hospital May 12 after three weeks. Mrs. Mike Kukurudz of Rus sell spent the week-end with her sister Mrs. Lechowicz. Mrs. Walter McTavish had her two grandsons with her for a few days while their parents went to Winnipeg. Mr. Jim Young of Saskatoon passed away. He was District.

Supper Meeting and Lions Sports Day Planned

Mossburn Lions Club will host a supper meeting Thursday at 7 00 pm at G Lazaruks restaurant. Mrs F Steele of Vista is named Lion o winner. Proceeds support community projects. Plans for a big Sports Day include Baseball Fastball Ladies Softball Little League Horseshoes Bingo and more. Tentative date Saturday June 24.

The Rossburn Women's Auxiliary meeting held Tuesday evening May 9th included hymn singing, devotional reading by Mrs. Netta Smith and Mrs. Ethel Langridge, and roll call on used clothing for Missionary work. Minutes and treasurer reports were adopted. Reports from committees, reading by Mrs. McIntosh on Canadian mission work, and donations to Camp Wasaga were discussed. A provisional committee was appointed. chairs were bought. months for Surprise Teas set. Graduation Banquet catering planned. hostesses served lunch. The Explorer Group affiliated with the WMS under Miss Margaret Hay with two mothers present.
