Park District Council Approves Budget By Laws and Appoints Local Rep
The Local Government District of Park met May 7 1979 in Russell Manitoba with Reeve Nowalkowski presiding. Minutes from April 10 were adopted. The meeting approved April month end statements and cheques totaling 6591.70, paid several accounts, and passed readings for By Law 441 1979 Budget and By Law 442 first reading. The Highway Traffic Board permit for a restaurant and two signs near PTH 10 was approved. Harriet Hodges was named Local representative to Parkland Home Inc Board of Directors Erickson for a three year term to end December 31 1981.

Hire a Student program in Russell to aid youth jobs
Julie Ryan leads the Hire-a-Student program to link employers with students for summer work from May 7 to August 3. The service covers window washing, construction, casual and volunteer tasks and operates Monday through Saturday 8 30 a.m. to 4 30 p.m. at the Community Employment Service Office in Russell. The Rossburn 4-H Club held Achievement Day on April 30 in the Rossburn Collegiate Auditorium with a large audience. Members displayed sewing crafts foods and self determined projects. judges provided feedback and praise. The evening program featured reports speeches music clothing modelling and craft displays.

Tag Day Planned by Hospital Auxiliary for Childrens Ward Equipment
The Rossburn Hospital Auxiliary plans purchases for the Childrens Ward including a $20.00 Fisher Price mobile a $400 colored TV and a $715 crib unit. A $1315 fetal heart monitor via ultrasound would support labor care and be used with existing cardiac equipment. A hydraulic patient lift costing about $1500 is also planned with $1000 pledged by the Auxiliary.
