Rod Clement MLA Guest Speaker At WL Meeting

Rod Clement MLA of Russell spoke at the WL meeting describing the St Lawrence Seaway project and its benefits to Canada. About 41 dollars in duty was noted with 10 dollars donated to the Rossburn School Scholarship Fund. Delegates Mrs Viola Stitt and Mrs Ann McIntosh were chosen for the District Convention in Roblin May 15, with Mrs Eileen Stitt and Mrs Alice Lindsay named as a provincial delegate and alternate respectively. Grade X XI XII students and teachers attended. lunch was provided by Mesdames Ament Smith Lindsay Taylor Johnson.

Rossburn Rural Council Minutes May Fifth Meeting

The Rural Municipality of Rossburn council met Saturday May 5 with the Reeve and all members present. Minutes and financial report adopted. One disability allowance approved. Donations of 10 to the Rossburn School Scholarship Fund and 25 to the Red Cross approved. By Law 807 first reading establishing hospital facilities at Rossburn and Lake under the Health Service Act. Lease offer from Agricultural Grounds accepted. Five tenders opened for gravelling. Peter Melnyk’s tender accepted. Bills paid. meeting adjourned to June 2.

Golden Anniversary In Weekly Publishing Business

The Provost News marks Lena Holmes Golden Anniversary in Western Canada weekly publishing. Since her 1906 marriage to Edwart Holmes, she helped print and publish the paper, and after her partner’s death 11 years ago her youngest son took over. Lena Holmes still helps on paper days, continuing the family printing legacy.

Rossburn two act comedy presented in the Rossburn Town Hall on Monday evening May 7 under Father Olynek direction and Ukrainian Catholic Church committee sponsorship. Cast included Mrs. M Antonin Mr and Mrs J Macyshyn Mr N Stupinsky and Mr J Klym. Following the show all danced to music by Mr Joe Berehulka and his Rhythm Ramblers.
