R C 1 Student Places Well In Math Contest

The Rossburn Arena Building Committee sponsored a 53 mile automobile poker derby Sunday May 1. Participants traveled via Marco and Olha to the arena with hog dogs and drinks at the checkpoints. Winners included Chris Mohr first 19.20 and Doris Caldwell second 14.40. Silent Riders top prize Miron Swintak 11.20. A hidden number turkey drawn by Jim Andrew. Special cash draws awarded to Orest Smychnnik and Janette Huston.

A Monday afternoon blaze at Mike Saley's farm, driven by strong winds, destroyed about 6000 feet of spruce and poplar lumber, 10 cords of railway ties, about 50 telephone poles, and a lumber planer.
