Manitoba Promises $294000 Police Service Grants
Attorney General Gerry Mercier announced 294000 in grants to about 50 Manitoba communities to aid local policing in 1979. Most towns with 500 to 1500 residents get a higher grant than 1978 by six percent, while 10 rural municipalities with their own forces receive the lesser of 2 per capita or one third of 1978 policing expenditures.

The Restoration Committee met on April 23 1979 to review funds and renovation plans for the Sts. Peter and Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church. A three man Parkland Ukrainian Pioneer Association work crew will start April 24 with roof reshingling minor structural repairs and painting planned. Further work depends on funds.
