Manitoba Veterinary Clinic Program Launches Rural Service Plan

Manitoba and federal funds support Veterinary Service Districts to build clinics or subsidize operating costs or veterinarian mileage. The program aims to reverse rural veterinarian shortages seen since 1971, increasing clinic based care from 50 to 80 percent of Manitoba livestock coverage. A Sportsman's Testimonial Dinner In Ross Burn

Recreation News notes Ross Taylor as Recreation Co-ordinator. A testimonial dinner occurs Monday May 7 at 6 p.m. in Ross burn Town Hall with the R C J Girls Volleyball Team, provincial B playoffs champions, as guests. Tickets three dollars at the Drop In Centre to benefit Minor Sports. Minor Baseball team coaches named and league play set for mid May. Adult recreation at RC I Gym Mondays 7 to 9 p.m. Children’s program at Elementary School gym Thursdays 7 to 9 p.m.

Enrollment for 24 Local Girl Guides at Rossburn Elementary

Twenty four girls were enrolled into the Girl Guide Company at Rossburn Elementary School on Wednesday April 25. Leaders Margie Helten Carol Lewis and Maureen Lloyd participated. The ceremony included O Canada roll call inspection First Aid and Home Nursing Badges gifts to Miss Evelyn Franklin candlelight message songs and a Girl Guide prayer with thanks to leaders.

Rossburn Students Shine at Marquette Music Festival

Seven groups from Rossburn Elementary competed at the Marquette Music Festival in Binscarth last week. Awards included Rossburn Grade 1 1st, Grade 2 2nd, Grade 3 1st, Grade 4 2nd, and Grade 3 4 1st in the choral class and folk dancing. The staff note the trophy for the 10 years and under class has been donated for four years, with Rossburn teams winning it three times in four years.

Mrs Rhoda Sanderson received the first North Western Marquette Festival Pin during Thursday’s vocal competitions in Binscarth. Presenter Mrs Phillis MacGranachan, a former pupil, recalled 33 years of devoted service as piano and voice teacher.

Parkway Co op Considers Expansion At Annual Meeting

Parkway Co operative Limited discussed a 3000 square foot Roblin expansion, a 10 000 square foot Russell shopping centre, and improvements at Rossburn and the Russell lumber yard. The plan, costing over 300 000 dollars, requires member loans and potential share cash sacrifices. Next year’s meeting will be in Rossburn.
