The notice was issued every Thursday at the office located on Victoria Avenue in Rossburn outlining ongoing administrative actions and routine communications.
The article recounts early Rossburn settlement with McDonald and Finch families arriving in 1879, followed by many pioneers from Manitoba and Scotland. It notes influx before CPR line placement, boom hopes for a northern town, and subsequent relocations to higher ground near Rossburn. It names numerous settlers including McPhee Russell Sharman Whaley Gerrand Ramsay Buchanan Cochrane Machan Moulton Paul McKinnon Duncan Brown Hamilton and others arriving 1879 80 81.
A rural fire at the Mushamanski home destroyed the farm house and contents. Mrs Mushamanski was in the barn milking when Shirley, the four year old daughter, was left in charge of a younger child and perished. Neighbors supply clothing and aid as the family recovers.
Ekford Miss Edwea Bolton visits star Mamey Wakefield at Yorkton. Mrs Mary Corringridge loses a cow kept strangled in the barn. Kent Cameron returns home after days with friends at Yorkton. A shower will be held at Ekford Schoolhouse for Mr Paw Moushmanski. Community urged to aid the fire-stricken family.

Misses Jean Zapski and Phyllis Black of the Ephinstone teaching staff spent the past weekend visiting at their respective homes at Oakburn. Mr John W Smith was a business visitor to Neepawa last week. Rev Fernalchuk was a visitor in Winnipeg for a few days last week. Mr Peter Kokorudz accompanied by Mr Harry Kotttek motored to Brandon last Friday. Mrs Wes Dutka and her pane ter Marie, visited at Sandy Lake for a few days last week. Miss Nell May Jannik returned home by bus last Friday after spending a few days in Winnipeg. Mr and Mrs Harold J Brown and daughter Mary Low, motored to Russell last Sunday.
Sidney Kates and Anne Paisner plan a trip to Vancouver and Los Angeles. Miss Vera Sawyer leaves for Roblin to become chief telephone operator. Grandmothers Tea invites district members for May 6 with prizes and program. CAESAR and Cleopatra shown at Rossburn Theatre May 1 and 3. Community events include a Cross dance with Dunc's Orchestra and a quilt winner by Jeck Lindsay.
Miss Caroline Wizzina aged 79 of Mincelons Mish died at Rossburn Hospital on Tuesday April 21 after visiting relatives Mrs M Parmley and Wigziss in Rossburn. Survived by a brother and sister and a Michigan brother. Funeral service at Baieal Church on Thursday April 24 conducted by Re. Mack and Rev. M Nixon. Pallbearers named Hirelow Williamson Duncarson Miller Taylor. Interment at Rossburn Cemetery.
Peter Hiska has gone to Winnipeg and may attempt to join police forces. Misra Oredniak heads to Carbery for summer duties. Misenna Verbowski of Rosseburn visits parents. Mike Sota got a new tractor with the VLA. Billi Obedniak traveled to Brandon last week. The creek from the National Park is thawed and fishing will begin soon.
Local items report family travels to Brandon for a weekend. Mrs Allan Smith and Shirley travel to Winnipeg. Mr Chas Brown falls through ice on the lake while skating. bystanders help him to safety as Mr Maxwell aids in the rescue.
The play A Reads Family will be staged in Vista on May 2 at 8 30 p.m. after its listing in Rossburn. Local residents are invited to attend the performance at the Vista venue.
