Game and Fish Bingo raises $33.62 for assoc

The Game and Fish Association reports a bingo night that netted $33.62. Winners include Mrs Joth Collins, Mrs L McMillan, Mike Silewich, Cliff Hamilton, Mrs Chas Brown, Frank Zegalski, and others for items such as Pyrex pans, hampers, towels, and cash prizes in a community event.

Sudden Passing of Mr A Freeborn Shocks Newdale District

The village mourns 78 year old Mr A Freeborn, longtime Fairmount and Basswood resident. Funeral held at United Church with interment in Fairmount Cemetery. Mrs Jack Dunn travels to Winnipeg for a medical check up with an encouraging report. Mr and Mrs Gordon Clark return from honeymoon and purchase a new car in Oshawa. Mrs C Lamb and others attend Rebekah and Oddfellow Assembly in Winnipeg. Mr and Mrs H Blackwood visit mother in town.

A lyrical poem celebrating spring as birds return to Riding woods and hills. The verses describe Robin, Wren, and other songbirds waking the woods, Pan’s pipes signaling dawn, and the countryside filling with cheerful bird songs as winter departs.

Resolution Passed Re Feed Mills

About eighty members and directors of 11 local Pool Elevator Assn from Inglis to Er ickson met in Rossburn Town Hall on Thursday March 23 under chairman Mr Bert Mitchell to discuss current agricultural policy. Mr C C Hunt and Mr Vincent Poloway addressed the meeting. The resolution approved and ratified the brief to the Standing Committee of Agriculture Ottawa presented by Man Poor Elevators and that we oppose relaxation of quotas to feed mills in the next crop year.

Civil Defence Local Organization Proposed by Rossburn Mayor

The Mayor of Rossburn appeals for municipal and village representation in civil defence efforts and urges all residents to participate. He argues no city, family, or honorable person should reject civil defence duty or accept aid they cannot provide in return, and urges continued readiness.

Mrs Helen Pushka obituary

Mrs Helen Pushka nee Zobiyak died suddenly at home March 12 in Transcona after a life spent farming in Glen Elmo. Born 1909 Rossburn area she married Fred Pushka in 1925 and later moved to Transcona. Survived by husband daughter Lena Brykaliuk granddaughter Cindy and sister Mrs Matt Pushka. Pallbearers listed. Cook's Funeral Home arranged service at Transcona Ukrainian Catholic Church.
