Linda McIntosh of Winnipeg was elected President of the Manitoba Association of School Trustees at the annual convention. George Mack of Austin was elected Vice-President, and four Directors-at-Large were named along with a broader slate of 14 regional directors. Ed Hart was elected Manitoba Director of the Canadian School Trustees Association.

Curling Rink Considered for Rossburn in 1947 Built Facility
A new community curling rink is being considered for Rossburn to replace the aging 1947 facility with inadequate kitchen and parking. Plans include a different site and possible tennis courts, year round use, and Harvest Festival benefits. Fundraising starts soon with a general meeting and wind-up pot luck on April 26 at the Town Hall.

Rossburn Village Council meeting discusses hall air systems
The Village of Rossburn council met on Thursday March 14 at 7:30 PM with Mayor Louis Kurchaba and Councillors present. A representative from D R S Enterprises Ltd discussed air exchange units for the Rossburn Community Hall and Senior Citizens area. decision deferred pending further study. Council approved a funds increase for the local recreation district and noted Ministerial levy, by law 679 for current-year expenditures, Main Street Manitoba Program applications, dog license action, and social assistance referrals. The village will explore Enviro-Bind dust control and requests ministerial approval to spend from reserves for the Main Street Manitoba Program project.

OAS pension boosts announced by Health Minister
Ottawa announces April increases in Old Age Security and Guaranteed Income Supplement. OAS rises to 276.54 per month. GIS for singles up to 328.66 and for married couples 214.05 per spouse.
