Vista Notes and Social Roundup Across Shoal Lake

Miss Lynn Barlow of Shoal Lake spent the long week-end with her parents Mr and Mrs V Barlow. Sympathy is extended to the Benza family in the loss of their son Frank who was accidentally killed in B C. Visitors at the Bilinsky home were Evelyn Bilinsky Frank Sawchuk and Lorie Yaskiw from Winnipeg. Evelyn celebrated her birthday Sunday March 11. Mr and Mrs A Chesney of Brandon visited Friday. The Vista W A met at Mrs Wm Stitt’s with 11 members. Devotional by Mrs Miller themed on leadership for younger workers in the church. An open discussion on uniting with the United Church Women led to sending three members to Rossburn for more information. Bazaar items were shown. Next meeting is Wed April 4 at 2 p m at Mrs W J Hamilton’s home.

Easter Ham Bingo at R C Church Basement

Easter Ham Bingo in the church basement on Monday April 9 at 7 p.m. features 20 games with 75 prizes, extra cards 25c, one extra prize Surprise Package, free coffee and doughnuts. Everyone welcome.

George Heindle and companions traveled to Winnipeg with a list of visitors including Mrs F Strilecki Miss Reid and Mr A Ament also Mrs J Barnesky who called at Portage. Elaine Maryniuk will compete in the 4H Public Speaking Finals at Vista. Born to Mr and Mrs Wally Tokar of Yorkton a son Jerry Wayne weighing 7 lbs 2 ozs on March 1. Tom Duncanson and others noted as well as several local visitations and well wishes from Rossburn residents.

Grand Challenge Bonspiel Winners Named at High School Event

The High School Bonspiel on Saturday March 10 crowned George Silewich, skip Gordon Williamson, Carol Barlow and Elaine Kreshewski as winners, defeating Clarence Lazaruk. Keith Elvers skip led his rink to second place by beating Jerry Stupnisky, with Judy Huston Lawrence Mychasin and Donald Kostesky composing the team.
