Manco's creamery operations shift to the new 40 by 72 foot extension at the Rossburn plant. Two new offices occupy the east side, a display cooler at the office sells a full line of Manco products. An official opening is planned for late March.

The Rossburn Cubs and Scouts will canvass for the Red Cross on Monday March 12 and Tuesday March 13. The goal this year is 900 dollars. Please support the Red Cross when the canvassers arrive.
The Ladies of the Altar Society in Rossburn held their annual meeting and elected committee officers: President Nellie Raskiw, Vice President Marie Slon, Treasurer Anne Bart, Secretary Velma Kreshewski.
The Pelly Trail School Division board met Monday Feb 26 with all trustees present. Motions adopted include approving Feb 12 minutes, handling correspondence, reviewing new 1979 teacher allotment regulations and scheduling a March 5 meeting with Angusville parents, approving a name change on the Inglis Janitor Services contract, granting a Grade Two camping trip to Asessippi Park on June 8-9, 1979, and agreeing to sell the former Oakburn High School to Oakburn Board of Trade for $1 with purchaser covering legal and survey costs.
The Rossburn Lions Carnival on Sunday March 4 drew about 500 attendees in mild weather. Highlights included the crowning of Tina Luhowy as Carnival Queen, Kim Smycnnik as Princess, ticket prize draws, figure skating numbers, costume contests, and various races. A hockey game saw Rossburn defeat Shoal Lake 6-1. The Stingers tied Foxwarren 6-6 in an exhibition Linament League game, ending the carnival.
Fire last Tuesday evening February 27 completely destroyed the Oakburn Fire Ltd. building and its contents. A transfer trailer belonging to Veterans Freighters parked in the garage was also destroyed. Oakburn Fire Dept and Shoal Lake Fire Dept responded to the blaze. The structure, built in 1905 by Thomas H. Halliday, housed a boarding house and later Oakburn's post office and first bank branch. The fire ends a historic site at Oakburn's main intersection that housed Borodie's Tire Shop for years.
