Annual Carnival At Rossburn Promises Snowy Fun And Crowning
The Rossburn Lions Carnival returns this Sunday March 4 starting at 2 00 pm with a schedule that includes figure skating crowning of the queen novelty events slush and race contests chuckwagon races hockey games and a Linament League match. Candidates Tina Luhowy and Kim Smycnnik vie for the Carnival Queen title while about 55 skaters perform under the Rossburn Figure Skating Club banner directed by Mrs Joan Lonsberry with assistants. Proceeds fund Rossburn Lions Club community activities.

Rossburn Elementary held its 10th Project Fair on February 23 1979 with 120 projects exhibited. Thirty six top placings across grades IV to VIII showcased student work including individual and group entries. Elders Ordained at Waywayseecappo Presbyterian Church
On Sunday February 25, 120 people attended the ordination at the Waywayseecappo Adult Center. Henry Tanner and Richard Oudie were ordained as Ruling Elders by the Presbytery of Brandon. A turkey supper fed over 100 beforehand and Pipestone singers plus Waywayseecappo dancers supported the historic ceremony. Visitors came from multiple communities including Elphinstone Ekford Dakota Tipi Dauphin Brandon Portage Hartney Neepawa Pipestone Birdtail Sioux Montreal Winnipeg and others.

North end residents faced water problems on Monday as Rossburn's town water system appeared to have two breaks. One break happened on Fourth Street near the hospital, while a second break on Mountain Avenue near First Street could not be confirmed at press time.
