Golden Wedding Anniversary Celebrated in Oakburn
Mr and Mrs Frank Sicinski of Oakburn celebrated their Golden Anniversary on February 22 1969 with telegrams from Prime Minister Trudeau and other leaders. Messages of congratulations came from Premier Walter Weir Lieutenant Governor Bowles and others. A family dinner honored the couple with all four children present. Ten grandchildren and four great grandchildren are noted. Out of town guests included relatives from Fort William Toronto and Winnipeg.

The Rossburn Women’s Institute met March 4 at 2:30 pm at Beryl Williamson’s home. A tea fundraiser for Cancer Relief was scheduled for March 22 in the Town Hall. Misses Agnes and Bessie Hiscock donated $8 for hall use. Next meeting is April 1 in the Annex. Jackpot donated by Mrs. Bob Alexander, won by Ruby Armstrong. Lunch by Alice Lindsay and Beryl Williamson. Meeting closed with Mizpah Benediction and a folk prayer.

Rossburn Hospital Auxiliary met at Vi McKietiuk home with 14 members. Doris Caldwell adopted minutes. Shirley McFeeters reported $21.07 on hand and $297.25 in the current account. A baby spoon was planned for Mrs Glen Maxwell as first baby of 1969. No Mother's Day Smorgasbord this year. Marianne Frieze gave a beauty care demonstration. Next meeting March 25 in Town Hall basement with Pot Luck at 6:30 p.m. husbands invited.

The U C W L in Rossburn held its March meeting at Mrs. Nellie Maydaniuk home with 17 members present. Plans for an Easter Bake Sale were set for April 3 and a Spring Tea from 2 to 5 p.m. were announced, a $25 scholarship donation to St. Vladimir’s Roblin approved, and a World Day of Prayer representative chosen. Jackpot was won by Mrs. Tinnie Trakalo.
