Sod turned for Rossburn District Health Centre ceremony

A crowd gathered October 2 1980 at 10 00 AM as Board Chairman Alex Cleland led the sod turning for the Rossburn District Health Centre. Attendees included board members Sandra Shtykalo Harry Aylwin John Mitchell mayoral and Lions Club representatives, architect Douglas Cameron, hospital administrator Avis Stitt, and lab technician Isa Rhea Robillard. Site work by Calvin Brown enabled early 1981 construction.

Cheryl Gerelus Crowned Queen at Rossburn Carnival

The 1981 Rossburn Lions Winter Carnival concluded at Rossburn Arena as Cheryl Gerelus was crowned Queen with Rhonda Smyciniuk and Betty Hryciuk as princesses. Winners of ticket draws included Timmy Bjornson Becky Gudmundson Stella Buternowsky and a cash gift of 250 to Alice Hryciuk. A Shoal Lake hockey win capped the day and organizers thanked the Figure Skating Club Minor Hockey and arena staff.
