Cancer Lodge occupancy concerns at Lennox Bell Lodge

The Manitoba Division of the Canadian Cancer Society reports Lennox Bell Lodge opened September 7 1982 and operates at under 50 percent occupancy. Executive Director Murray Bater says rural patients are unaware the facility exists and calls for increased awareness and capacity adjustments including added beds and cot availability. The lodge is connected by an underground tunnel to the Cancer Foundation treatment facilities.

MacPhail donates land for Manitoba wildlife refuge

Natural Resources Minister Al Mackling announced a 160 acre donation from Alexander MacPhail of Shoal Lake to create the John MacPhail Wildlife Refuge. The site will be managed by the province as woodland marsh and cultivated fields with hunting banned but open to hikers and photographers.
