Rossburn Men's Club invites members in good standing to the bonspiel starting Thursday morning March 10 at 10.00. Members with unpaid season fees should contact the Treasurer to confirm draw details. An entry fee of 1.00 per rink funds extra prizes, and rink use for bonspiel purposes costs 25.00 per day with possible refunds for charity events.
The Rossburn High School ben-4 spiel on February 26 drew seven invited and four local rinks for two events. Fox Warren and Oakburn teams led divisions with top prizes including lighters wallets ski caps and belts. The girl’s lunch netted about 15 dollars as local merchants donated prizes.
A house owned by Mr. and Mrs. Antonichuk in Rossburn burned completely around 3:00 a.m. Residents and volunteers fought to save the adjoining Elvers home as wind remained light. The loss includes home and contents for a family of two. The Review hopes local support follows.
The annual Ice Carnival returns this Saturday March 12 featuring a 90 minute Foxwarren Figure Skating Club display. Costume prizes are offered and the usual races will be held, inviting community support to aid the youngsters in their contest for a valuable prize.
Caldwell rink won first prize in the second event of the mixed bonspiel at Angusville. Cormack rink took second place on 2nd, Cleland rink finished fourth, and Bill Silewich’s team won second prize in the consolation.
Rossburn notes the Hospital Aid met on February 28 with seven members present. They approved a mixed bonspiel if weather allows after the men’s event and listed needs including twelve large hospital gowns and a food strainer. A roll call will be answered by a fall bazaar article.

Thomas W White of New Westminster B C died February 13 at Shaughnessy Military Hospital Vancouver after a year of ill health. He served in World Wars I and II and is survived by Grace his wife, a son William, two daughters Mrs B Emerson of Melville Sask and Mrs D Dyck of Angus Ontario seven grandchildren and siblings those named including George of Isabella and three sisters. Funeral was February 17 at Columbian Funeral Chapel New Westminster with Rev G Turpin. interment Fraser Legion Cemetery.
The Rossburn Manitoba Farmers Union held its annual meeting with about 40 in attendance. A full report on the Winnipeg three day convention was given by A Saley. Guest speaker Jorgenson urged crop insurance within a broader agriculture policy and parity prices. He warned no government action until 1956 legislative sitting. The World Day of Prayer service was held Friday February 25 at 3 00 p m in the United Church under joint leadership of the United Church W M S and the Pentecostal W M S Mrs Alex MacPhail of Vista was guest speaker and gave an inspiring message Mrs I Roset sang Pause at His Feet for a Moment of Prayer Others taking part were Mrs J Lindsay Mrs Dave Sherritt Mrs J Sherritt Mrs H McIntosh Mrs H Alston Mrs H McKnight Mrs Cormack Mrs W Armstrong Mrs H Miller and Mrs J Huston and Mrs G Williamson.
