Voters go to the polls next Friday March 10 to decide the single district school division referendum. Details on polling places and advance voting were announced in last week's notice. The plan aims to coordinate K 12 education, consolidate schools, equalize costs, and centralize financing and purchasing among other points.
On Saturday February 25 the girls and boys teams traveled to Strathclair for a tournament. The boys secured the championship trophy while the girls won the consolation. A second boys tournament is announced for March 11 at an unspecified location.
Mr Bert Mitchell receives a 20 year seal for 15 years of seed production from the Canadian Seed Growers Assoc at the Manitoba Branch annual meeting in Brandon on Thursday March 2.
Mr Garry Hamilton of Winnipeg spent the weekend with his parents. Dick Baker accompanied him home. Belinsky family members visited their mother in Brandon Hospital on Tuesday. Louise Rogers wedding guests gathered in Binscarth. Congratulations to the newlyweds. Several Winnipeg and Kenora area residents attended the Chwaluk funeral.

The Birdtail VI held a Whist Drive February 10 at the Hrubeniuks home. A large crowd attended and prizes went to Mrs. Wendel Cleland, Mrs. Glushka, Mrs. Eva SIdor yk, Bert Palmer, and Mike. Proceeds totaling 21.50 support the March of Dimes and Birdtail Retarded Children's School at Shoal Lake.
The Fearless Four from Clear Lake played a friendly match against the Caldwell rink of Rossburn on Friday evening. Reports say the game was close and enjoyed by both sides.

The Sandy Lake Open Bonspiel crowned Stan Konopski and Santad Weynehuk as winners in top two rinks with other placers listed for 3rd and 4th. The Closed Bonspiel awarded Curling Club Trophy to Don Koroscil with four subsequent placers. Ron Balyk’s rink swept the season with 11 wins.
