Rossburn Centennial Celebrations Mark Memorable Weekend
Rossburn Manitoba marked Canada’s centennial with a two day festival on June 24 and 25 1967 attended by large crowds. The parade featured 50 plus entries from Brandon Sandy Lake Menzie Oakburn and Lions Clubs while Lions Sports Day drew 32 teams. A park opening ceremony at Centen nial Park and a variety program at the school Auditorium showcased local culture and a fashion show Ukrainian dance and a smorgasbord. Sunday saw about 1800 visitors to Rossman Lake for ceremonies entertainment and a pit barbecue with 220 pounds of beef. A interfaith service bathing costume contest and a final ball game closed the weekend.

Ukrainian Pioneers in Rossburn Recall Early Settlement
The first Ukrainian settlers in Rossburn include the Yarmeys the Kozaks and the Danyleykos who homesteaded near Pete's Lake in Western Ukraine They left May 10 1899 and arrived June 10 1899 traveling from Halifax to Shoal Lake by train then wagon to Rossburn They stayed in elevators and tents until settled The parade featured a Ukrainian National Home float and a lively Arkan Dance directed by Pete Kuzenko with dancers Janet Tanasychuk and Janice Borowski Messages praise teamwork and lasting costumes and traditions from Kelowna British Columbia to Manitoba

Assessment Added to 1967 Village Tax Roll
The Rossburn village council met in council chambers with Mayor Peter Wladyka and councillors Antonin, Verbowski, Kombyr, and Baubie. They approved a $50 grant to the Rossburn Agricultural Society and added numerous properties to the 1967 tax roll with specified assessments. Building permits for five residents were approved and lane payment of $300 authorized. The meeting adjourned to July 17.
