Sports Day A Success in Rossburn with Close Games
The Rossburn Lions Club hosted the first annual Sports Day drawing 845 spectators. Four ball tournaments featured many close games with 20 matches, while Oak River and Vista captured multiple titles in baseball and under fourteen action. Deck er led the seven team fastball and Oak River edged through to finals as other clubs like Hamiota and Shoal Lake posted strong showings. All finals finished before darkness. community support from local societies and sponsors made the day a financial success, capped by a Town Hall dance with Gaylords providing music.

Bridal Shower Honors Rachel Wilson in Vista Hall
A bridal shower was held Friday evening in Vista Hall in honor of Rachel Wilson. Her mother and Mrs. Foxton attended in place of the groom’s ill mother. Eugenia Slobodeski arranged chairs and corsages for guests. Mavis Halliday and Kenneth Lillie led a gift wagon parade with Lillie dressed as the groom.

Farmers Plowing Seeded Grain Advised To Report Details
Special information from the PFAA office in Regina urged farmers to provide the quarter section and acreage of grain plowed and to leave a few feet of standing crop at the field end. Vista Manitoba resident Alexander MacPhail was elected to Robertson Associate Membership at the Canadian Seed Growers Association annual meeting in Banff Alberta on June 21. He has grown Reward Regent and Selkirk wheat OAC 21 Plush Vantage barley Victory Vanguard and Ajax oats and farmed since 1935 on land homesteaded by his father in 1879. He raises Aberdeen Angus cattle Suffolk sheep and beef cattle, maintains a small fruit orchard, supports Vista 4H Grain Club and has served as Vista School Board Trustee. He collects antiques and is an active church worker.

Survived by wife, 2 sons Phillip and John, 4 daughters, 10 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren. funeral at Sacred Heart Church with Rev. Bagsik officiating, interment Elphinstone RC Cemetery. Lions Club Bowls Out Week With Picnic And Changes
Rossburn Lions Club held a Fish Lake family picnic as leadership passed from past president Charlie Kester to new president Nick Karmazenuk. Earl Moffat lamented Kester’s departure while Mike Tokar chaired. Absent members M. McDonald and A. Tweed received parting gifts. The club organized power lawn mowers for Sports Day at the Fair Grounds, where four diamonds were prepared. Cleanup followed Saturday’s events.
