Winnipeg May 15 1945 A letter to the editor from hunter W E N King argues against Sunday hunting in Manitoba citing game reserves and better weekday shooting. He suggests adding a weekday prohibition to improve hunting conditions rather than open Sunday. Mr Lagaruk of Vista was trapped for three hours in a hole on the grave road south of A Smith. A large crowd attended the tea at Maxwell's with proceeds for Soldiers Aid. Miss Kay Senenuk left for Winnipeg to meet her brother Bill returning from overseas. Sunday visitors included Mr and Mrs O Elvers and Keith. The Valley school picnic is set for Tours June 28 and Ranchvale ladies attended the W J Convention at Russell.
Mrs Nathan Unickow returned home from Winnipeg this week. Mrs John E Menzies and Mrs A McDonald visited Mrs Joseph Menzies in Winnipeg last week. Mr and Mrs Walter Melnyk and Oxie with Mr and Mrs Michael J Wolochatiuk vacationed in Ethelbert. Michael Slow came back to Swft Current after a week with relatives. Sgt D A Ross and wife D A Ross arrived from overseas on the hospital train in Winnipeg June 20. The Oakburn United Church Ladies Aid held a June meeting at Mrs John W Randall to plan cleaning and painting projects.
