Culture minister Bonnie Mitchelson announced a program offering up to $500 to cover crafting transporting and installing a commemorative plaque. The Manitoba Heart Foundation February appeal surpassed its 1989 goal of 1,670,000 with the rural campaign adding 4,000 to reach 515,000 and Winnipeg raising 1,127,920 from residents businesses and events. Volunteer chair Brian Thompson calls the effort among the best in years, marking a 6.2 percent year over year increase and funding over 30 Manitoba research grant in aid projects to combat heart disease and stroke.
