The first annual North West of District 5 Credit Union Chapter meeting gathered June 21 at Rossburn Town Hall with delegates and leadership. Officers elected include F Tarrant as chairman and a board expansion from five to seven. next session set for Minnedosa. Delegates from Erickson, Rossburn, Glen Elm, Sandy Lake, Birtle and Strathclair attended.

School Trustees Meet at Hamiota
The No 3 Regional School Trustees Association met in convention on Monday June 14 in the Hamiota Theatre. Forty six trustees attended with officers elected including President Bert Mitchell Rossburn Vice President W G Boulton Birtle and secretary treasurer T Kieper Russell. Delegates from Rossburn Bruin Sherman and other towns heard talks on central office education teacher recruitment and secondary school areas.

Tender Awarded For Sharman Bridge
Rural Municipality of Ross-4 held a special meeting Saturday night to award the Sharman bridge tender and to decide on the Vista building and scales sale. Three bids ranged from 225 to 490 dollars. J Nahirniak of Ruthenia won the bridge bid at 225 dollars. A single bid for Vista building and scales was 35 and 15 dollars respectively, but council deemed bids too low and reserved the items for internal use.

Mission Band Picnic Ends With Fried Treats And Fun
Twenty one Mission Band children left town Saturday afternoon for an annual picnic at Stewarts Lake. Mr. Crookshanks provided transport, with Mr. Alston bringing two late-comers and supplies of weiners, marshmallows, peanuts, buns, and soft drinks. A fish shoal, a rabbit, a woodpecker, and a duck family interrupted a ball game, but one side claimed victory. Everyone ate, roasted, and raced before rain threatened. the children were returned to town by Charlie Harrison and Mr. Alston.

Former Local Doctor Will be Feted
A Manitoba born country doctor, Dr Murrough O'Brian of Qu'Appelle, Saskatchewan, will be honored at Frontier on July 9 during Frontier's annual sports day. The event includes a baby roundup of the 9,000 babies he delivered across Canada in a career beginning in 1888, with former patients registering their names and birthplaces for an honor roll.
