Indian bands to receive doubled funding across Canada
Indian Affairs Minister John C. Munro announced a doubling of funds for Indian bands this fiscal year to 75.3 million, funded by an additional 36.9 million plus 38.4 million from Treasury Board. The extra money supports core funding, overhead, and band employee benefits, enabling bands to manage band offices, services, and governance.

Manitoba University convocation honors 1983 graduates
The University of Manitoba held its 104th annual spring Convocation, during the last week of May, granting degrees diplomas and certificates to more than 2,600 graduates across six sessions at Fort Garry and St. Boniface College. A Centennial Concert Hall tribute marked Dentistry 25th and Medicine 100th anniversaries with local graduates Norma Lynne Andrew and Terence Mitchell Gregorash listed among area recipients.
