Oakburn Sports Day draws over a thousand attendees
Oakburn hosted its annual Sports Day on Sunday June 18 with events for men women and children. The Rossburn Speedy Old Timers defeated the Oakburn Old Time Dynamiters 12 to 8 under slowball rules in a highlight game. Clanwilliam Greys won the men’s fastball title beating Oakburn Orioles, while Foxwarren Ladies topped Brandon Nicholson Diggers for top prize.

Silver Creek Council Calls for Tender and June 27 Meeting
The Rural Municipality of Silver Creek will hold a special meeting on June 27 to take bids for a new grader. Delegations on government grants for Russell Golf Club and Silver Beach were heard. A Manitoba Water Control Board survey on water for P.R. 478 was discussed. The secretary will be on holiday July 17 to August 7. May accounts paid totaled 8 401.41 and machine account credits 1 222.36. The next regular meeting is July 11 at 8:00 a.m.

Manitoba residents may apply for 1200 elk or moose combination licences valid in game hunting areas 23 and 23A around Riding Mountain National Park from December 4 to January 27 1973. The $20 licence allows one animal either moose or elk. applications open August 28 in Dauphin Brandon Neepawa Roblin Grandview Rossburn or Winnipeg Room 1003 Norquay Building. Licences are not issued to elk area 18 hunters nor may elk and moose be taken in Minnedosa wildlife refuge or Riding Mountain Park.
