The sixth annual Queen's Day baseball tourney, postponed from Thursday due to poor weather, will be held this Saturday in Rossburn. Entries must be phoned in to 63 or 16 by 8 p.m. Friday, June 21, with local residents urged to attend the top-notch bell tourney.
The marriage of James Melford Foxton and Helen Slobodesky, both of Oakburn, was solemnized at the United Church Manse in Rossburn on Saturday June 15 at 7 30 p m. Witnesses were Mr and Mrs Peter Sidlar. They will reside in Oakburn where Foxton is postmaster.
Funeral services were held Wednesday for Mrs. Tom Armstrong who died Sunday June 16. A large crowd attended at the United Church, with many relatives and friends unable to be accommodated. A full obituary is expected in the next issue.
The prize list work is nearing completion as sections have grown from 300 to nearly 400 in five years. The added sections require extensive yearly retyping since the type now must be reset each year rather than saved.

Funeral service conducted at the Greek Catholic Church Lake Dale on Tuesday June 11 for Theodore Drosdoski born January 7 1866 in West Ukraine. He died June 7 at his daughter’s home and is survived by five sons and several daughters with interment at Lakedale cemetery beside the church.
Nadya Nahirniak was awarded the Fortin Award for Bedside Nursing at graduation exercises held at St Boniface School for Practical Nurses on Thursday June 13. The prize was presented by Chief Inspector R W Lightly of the Department of Education.
The Rossburn Chamber of Commerce met at Ukrainian National Home on June 17 with strong attendance. It urged action from Public Works head R D Robertson and another department, planned a delegation to Winnipeg if replies lag, and discussed Turkey Trail gravel needs, highway conditions, and installing silent policemen. A special executive meeting was set for next week to review outcomes.
A special Rural Municipality of Rossburn meeting presided by Reeve Ed Shust decided which locations are excluded and included in the main market road system. Grants in Ward 2 were split, with half directed to east of 24 25 36 20 25 and half to east of 22 27 34 20 25 for grading, Shust casting the deciding vote.

The senior baseball league at Birtle saw Rossburn fall to Binscarth in the opening game. Birtle defeated Foxwarren, Russell edged Shoal Lake, then Binscarth beat Russell to face Birtle in the final. Binscarth secured the title defeating Birtle with ease.
