Rev B F Parsons of VISTA presides with Divine Service at 11 00 in Rossburn and 7 30 p m. Church School at 2 20 p m. Kelloe holds Divine Service at 1 00 p m A welcome for all announced.
Rev J Y Garett missionary speaks at 11.00 a.m. at Eckford and 1.30 p.m. at Way Wayseecappo with a 4.30 p.m. service at all venues. All welcome to attend these events.
Local notes report visits and travels among residents including Mre Garrison Shust and Charney in Russell, Barlow and Joan returning from Winnipeg, and social plans such as a Soldier’s Aid Tea to aid overseas troops. Community events include a June Greek Catholic anniversary dinner, a Bible Society lecture, and a Milk for Britain fund drive.
Oakburn notes outline visits from residents to Winnipeg and nearby towns, local dances at Ukr Ukrainian Home and Tony Sions Barn, and fundraising for the Red Cross. Softball results show Rossburn beating Oakburn 18 10, with Oakburn juniors playing in Rossburn where boys won 12 7 and girls lost 15 13. Achievement Day at the Oakburn school features sewing and knitting classes with awards and a Silver Tea fundraiser.
To Mr and Mrs T Charney a daughter was born at Ba hospital on June 6. In Vancouver British Columbia on May 29 a daughter was born to Mr and Mrs Floyd McDonald formerly of Jossboro named Dienne Louise.
