Tea and Coffee Rations Raised by Wartime Board

The Wartime Prices and Trade Board announced a roughly forty percent rise in tea and coffee rations effective May 1. Coupon values increase to four extra ounces for tea and sixteen ounces for coffee, with two coupons valid monthly on alternate Thursdays. Manitoba Provincial Exhibition Opens With Free Kids Day

Brandon hosts the Manitoba Provincial Exhibition for five days starting Monday July 3 with free gate admission for all on Monday afternoon. Kids up to 12 get 10 cent grain stand and reduced grandstand prices for companions. The program features Let Freedom Ring a patriotic musical extravaganza with dancing scenes and historical episodes, plus Wen Hai jugglers Ite Eight Lucky Girls Hannafords and Pallenberg’s Educated Bears. Racing cards on July 5 and 6 offer 3000 in prizes. Improved washrooms nursery building and rest rooms are provided for exhibitor convenience and childcare supervision.

Pioneer of Rossburn District Death of Mr White in Rossburn

The district records the death of Mr White aged 74 after a lengthy illness at his home. Born December 7, 1871 in Repley England he married Edith Marchment in 1895. A former baker in Portsmouth he moved to Canada in 1914 farming at Birdtail before taking the Rossburn post office thirteen years ago and moving to Rossburn two years ago. Survived by his wife two sons George and L Cpl Thomas, three daughters Mrs Betcon Mrs W Coughlan and Mrs R Craig, plus a brother and sister in England. Funeral at Roseburn United Church with Rev. B. F. Parsons officiating and interment in Rossburn Cemetery. Pallbearers named. Sympathy offered to Mrs White and family.
