Dale Hersack earned Honourable Mention in a province wide school poster contest run by the Manitoba Forestry Association. Beaven presented a citation and a $10 cheque for outstanding achievement in forest fire prevention. Hersack’s poster shows a bird’s nest with a bird and the message Blow out your match or the birds won’t hatch.

New Uniforms For Rossburn Merchants Baseball Club
The Rossburn Merchants fastball team organized to wear new uniforms funded by local business donations. Merchants contributed 630.00 toward a 717.05 total including advertising and numbers. Rossburn Electric donated a P A system for ball games. posters will announce upcoming games.

The Birdtail Women’s Institute met in May at Mrs. Freda Butler’s home with seven members and three visitors. The event included The Creed, a Mother’s Day gift exchange, minutes and treasurer’s report, and correspondence. They hosted the Russell-Roblin District Convention May 8 at Rossburn Town Hall with over 50 attendees despite four inches of snow. The group thanked Rossburn United Church Women for meals and helpers, and Anne Kambeitz won jackpot.
