Queen's Day Tournament Draws Bigger Crowd
A large crowd attended the Queen's Day ball tournament on Saturday with mixed play. In the PONY league Brandon beat Strathclair in the final after Strath won earlier games against Rossburn and Vista. Binscarth defeated Newdale 4-2 in best game, final between Binscarth and Strathclair called after five innings.

Oakburn Collegiate held its May graduation with Chief Inspector R W Lightly as guest speaker. Gr XII valedictorian Shirley Luhowy and Gr XI valedictorian Julie Luhowy led the ceremonies along with Roxie Hersak delivering the student council message. Dolores Melnyk received the Athletic Award as diplomas were presented to thirty two graduates, listing names for Gr XI and Gr XII graduates.

Funeral Services For Former Oakburn Resident
Joseph M. Remenda 58 former owner of the Walabec Theatre Lac du Bonnet died suddenly May 4 in Winnipeg General Hospital He was born in Mikado Sask came to Oakburn in 1930 as a grain buyer purchased Mikado Hotel in 1940 and operated it until 1953 He later moved to Lac du Bonnet Funeral services were held in Mikado and Canora Sask burial in Mikado Cemetery He is survived by his wife Margaret son Zane daughter Ay two grandsons Danny and Mark five brothers and five sisters.

The Rossburn Credit Union Society held a June 8 meeting. May minutes were approved. Delegates Bert Mitchell and L C Johnston with alternates Mike Sotas and J D Andrew were chosen. Two new members were approved. Supervisory report found books in order. Credit Committee approved nine loans totaling 2510 dollars and one extension of 19 dollars. No July meeting due to Fair Day. A car will be decorated for the Agricultural parade. Next meeting set for August 10.
