Oakburn Lions raise funds for CAT scanner in Winnipeg
Oakburn and District Lions Club joined Manitoba and Northwestern Ontario clubs to raise 1133.50 for a Health Sciences Centre CAT scanner in Winnipeg. The Oakburn club contributed 843.50 from their regular fund drive on May 1 and 290.00 from personal donations. Members thank all who supported this worthy project benefiting Manitobans.

Ratepayers face higher property taxes in Rossburn budget
Rossburn residents and businesses face a 17.4 mill rise in residential taxes and 26.4 mills in commercial property, per Secretary-Treasurer Leonard Mackedenski. The tax hike brings residential bills to 1 015.85 and commercial bills to 1 229.80 last year. the new year totals 1 111.55 for a $5 500 home and 1 375.00 for a $1 229.80 commercial property.

The Manitoba Community Services Council under the Manitoba Lotteries Foundation approved a $3,000 grant to the Rossburn Agricultural Society to finish construction of their facilities. A cheque for $3,000 has been received and will fund completion of indoor and rodeo enhancements, upgrading the society’s building program.
