Long Saskatchewan history of John Livetsky and Martha Maluk
John Livetsky born June 20 1871 in Western Ukraine. He became a skilled teamster and driver for a Halitechena Parish minister, meeting Martha Maluk who later became his wife. They emigrated to Canada in 1900, settled near Rossburn Manitoba, built a sod hut, faced hardship including the loss of their first herd and deaths of several children, but eventually established a farm and a large Canadian family. They retired to Rossburn in 1953. Martha died 1956, John 1961. The narrative honors their perseverance and descendants. Submitted by Lillian Gandza to the Argyle Centennial History Book Committee.
