Rossburn Lions drop Sports Day for 1971 and town events noted
At a recent meeting the Rossburn Lions Club decided not to hold a 1971 Sports Day due to waning Saturday interest and stronger Sunday crowds. Prom planned for Friday features The Marksmen at the Collegiate Auditorium. Weather logs show May 1971 drier than 1961, while local projects progress with possible deadline extension. Community events include Angusville sports day Oakburn tourney Shoal Lake gymkhana and a Rossburn mallards loss 2-1 to McAuley in a round. Proceeds from Shoal Lake concert support Senior Citizens Housing Fund.

You Pick Em Mushrooms Stir Bear Encounter
Mrs. Bill Prosyk of Oakburn picked mushrooms in the Marco district. A curious bear approached the paper bag six steps away and helped itself. She and her husband fled and then the bear reappeared behind them as they decided to head home after the encounter.
