Russell and Rossburn squads impressed, but Elphinstone boys and girls dominated both rounds, beating Russell 23 8 and 16 12 after earlier Russell wins, advancing to zone finals at Birtle on June 2.

Parkland Harvest Festival Public Meeting Schedule Set

Local 4-H Rally at Birtle Yields Multiple Prizes
Twenty Rossburn 4-H members four leaders and one parent attended the Birtle Rally on May 29. Prizes included first in parade red ribbon four dollars and awards in clothing judging blue and red ribbons nine silver spoons in dress revues and Brenda crowned first princess.

Grandmothers Tea Held Tuesday by Rossburn Women
The Rossburn Women's Institute met in the annex on Tuesday June 1st. Business was normal as Mrs Williamson reported on the Inglis convention. A grandmothers tea followed with 12 visiting grandmothers and 26 in attendance. Prizes went to oldest and youngest grandmothers and others, with slides shown and hymns sung.

Victoria driver chosen as Queen's personal escort
Sgt. George Clarke of Victoria B C was selected as the Queen's personal driver during her British Columbia tour. Before departure he and his family were taken aboard the Britannia, interviewed, and presented with a photograph of the Queen Prince Philip and Princess Anne, an autographed image, and a leather wallet bearing the Royal Coat of Arms.

Three Rossburn Collegiate students Adele Bilinsky Sheila Brown and Beverley Lepischak competed in the Manitoba Grade XII Mathematics Contest. The test welcomed 557 entrants from 86 Manitoba high schools and featured advanced problems. Sheila Brown finished 27th, missing prize money by ten places.
