Mrs Mary Slon of Oakburn Saskatchewan died May 2 in Shoal Lake Hospital at age 75. Born in Western Ukraine she came to Canada 55 years ago settling east of Oakburn then moving to Oakburn in 1950. Survived by sons Maron Tony and Mike and daughter Mrs Rosie Gnntel of Decker. Funeral May 4 at Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church Oakburn officiated by Rev Romanyshyn. Pallbearers listed Raginski Funeral Home handled arrangements.

Obituary for Mike Cheguis of Sandy Lake at 84
Mike Cheguis of Sandy Lake died May 3 after a short illness at Erickson Hospital aged 84. Born in Western Ukraine he came to Manitoba in 1902 and farmed in Rossburn Municipality until 1956 then retired to Sandy Lake. Survived by wife three daughters and five sons with one daughter predeceased in 1919. Pallbearers listed and many relatives from Oakburn Vista Shoal Lake Birtle Edmonton and Winnipeg attended services.

W I Convention in Russell Highlights District Work
The 20th W I Convention of the Roblin Russell district met in Russell on May 23. Attendees from Rossburn included Mrs. Alice Lindsay who read resolutions and Mrs. Anne McIntosh who presented the year’s report. Winners were announced for Safety Poster competitions with posters to be shown at the Manitoba provincial convention in Winnipeg. Prior to his death he was engaged in his trade as a shoe maker in Oakburn. Funeral service was held in the Ukrainian Greek Orthodox Church at Oakburn on May 2 with Rev. Melnychuk officiating. Deceased is survived by one daughter residing in Australia.

The Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church in Oakburn hosted prayers for Trochym Mackedenski who died April 27 at Shoal Lake Hospital. Interment followed May 1 service officiated by Rev. Roman Yshyn. Born October 19, 1872 in Western Ukraine, he moved to Manitoba in 1907 and farmed in Vista district since 1919 retiring in 1954. Survived by three sons Mike Joe Alex and daughters Nellie Drul Molyshyn of Windsor Ontario and Ann in Detroit Michigan.
