Council backs Crown Lands purchase bid amid habitat concerns
At the Rossburn RM meeting on July 21 Reeve John Mitchell presided with all councillors present. Wayne Bartkin, lessee of Crown land quarter SW 11-21-24W, sought to buy the land but Crown Lands rejected due to prime elk moose bear and deer habitat and high big game demand. Council supports Bartkin and will send the resolution to Agricultural Crown Lands in Winnipeg. The meeting also amended the insurance/ security policy affecting Rossman Lake facilities and camp infrastructure. The Woodlands RM opposed the federal accrual accounting plan for farm income tax returns and Rossburn council endorses Woodlands by sending letters to federal MPs and provincial MLAs.
