Park Council during a special Friday session presided by Reeve James C. Irwin approved first and second readings for By-Law 543 to establish the Erickson Veterinary Services District. The meeting waived procedure to enable third reading and final passage of the measure.
On July 19 1982 the 4-H Interclub Show and Sale featured five clubs Shoal Lake Strathclair Rossburn Miniota and McConnell at the Strathclair arena. A public auction sold 45 steers for an average 84 cents per pound. Grand champion Jamie Wiltsey McConnell Club’s Simmental cross steer sold for 137.50 at Oak River Locker Plant. Reserve Grand Champion Darlene Clark Miniota Club’s Hereford steer went to Hamiota IGA for 104.00 per pound.
The St John Cantuis Farm church in Oakburn Manitoba marks its 80th anniversary on Sunday August 15 1982 with an 11 AM High Mass. A procession benediction unveiling and cairn blessing with 88 names and ages will be read. Archbishop Adam Exner will attend along with Pastor Ken Foran and other priests. Dinner will follow.
