R.C.M.P. officers oversaw the event and Justice J W Cormack awarded prizes.

Rain halted the California Cuties versus Oakburn Orioles softball game on Friday with plans for a replacement match in July 1970. Saturday morning draws at Mike's Cafe drew about 30 hopefuls for ticket prizes and a large Texas Beauty perfume prize, plus consolation prizes, with proceeds aiding a shooting range project at Oakburn Recreational Grounds.

Eight red ribbons and ten blue ribbons were awarded across events. Nancy Slimmon won the Royal Bank rose bowl for Grand Champion Showmanship. Catherine Hogberg won the interclub pony competition with Barry Butler taking second.

Highway Tenders Opened For Manitoba Projects
The Manitoba Department of Transportation opened ten tenders for highway improvements including PTH No. 4 from Minnedosa to Newdale with the lowest bid of 504,220 by Royal Paving Co. of Winnipeg. Work includes surfacing in Minnedosa and spans about 20 miles and should finish by early fall. The Veteran's Construction bid 123,464 was the lowest for asphalt treatment on 12 miles of Provincial Road 251 from Waskada to PTH 83 completing a three year rebuilding program.
