The Rossburn Lions Club sponsors a Dental Clinic at Rossburn Elementary School from August 18 to 29 for Rossburn Elementary students only. Appointments are needed for emergencies, with $1 per visit charged at the time of the appointment. Donations are gratefully accepted.
An all night rain Tuesday night broke a spell of hot weather. August temperatures have been rising with heat and humidity continuing to affect outdoor plans and comfort across the region.
The opening of the twenty ninth Legislature on August 14 prompts questions on Medicare premium reductions and tax options. Premier Schreyer signals a House keeping session with later changes, while road projects and the Tax Structure Committee loom as key issues for Birtle Russell constituents.
Angusville Cardinals defeated Vita 11-1 at Angusville on Saturday with Stan Furman earning the win and relief from Al Kitching and Barry Wowk. Sunday at Vita the Cardinals won 12-6 to seal the series with Kitching credited and Furman in relief. Earlier, Angusville beat Waskada 16-1 and 11-1 in the opening round.
The Rural Municipality of Rossburn council met August 12 with Reeve John Mitchell and five councillors. They approved July’s financials, discussed road closure and a drainage survey, urged Manitoba Telephone System to share cable locations, paid outstanding bills totaling 12,459.79, and adjourned to September 9.
Congratulating the Angusville Cardinals Ball Club on their victory over Vita in a best of three series last weekend. Also notes attending weddings and visits by local residents to Winnipeg and Clear Lake, including the Wolohatiuk Hansen wedding and family travels.
A Moulson family reunion occurred August 2 and 8 at the Moulson farm south west of Rossburn. About 78 people attended including relatives from Calgary Portage la Prairie Neepawa Foxwarren Oak River and Fort McMurray. The event featured outdoor meals a barbecue lunch on the lawn and a Sunday gathering with many grandchildren and great grandchildren present.
Ann Ruth Restay and Samuel Arnold Hrycak married August 2 1969 at St. Josephs Church Russell Manitoba with Rev. MacLosky officiating. The bride wore a Romance lace gown with seed pearls and a two tier veil, carried cascading red roses, and was attended by Hilda Restau Iris Stadnyk Joanne Hrysak Audrey La Vallee. The groom's party included Ron Maryniuk Clarence Lazaruk Fred Restau and Ken Restau with Bruce Restau as ring bearer. After a Rossburn reception the couple will reside in Birtle Manitoba.
