Religious Vacation School Opens Across Communities
Vacation schools begin July 4 and July 5 at St. Theresa's Rossburn St. Catherine's Oakburn and Holy Trinity Angusville to keep religious education aligned with grade levels. Sisters Walsh and Kinch from Winnipeg lead the program for younger children preparing for First Communion with listings of communicants at Oakburn Rossburn and Angusville. A Communion Breakfast followed after morning Mass for all RVS attendees.

Fair attendance at second Fish Derby at Fish Lake
The second Fish Derby this season at Fish Lake took place Sunday July 17 drawing fair crowds. Gate receipts totaled 81.20. Alex Kitler won the pickerel division with a 63 lb fish, the only pickerel caught, while Andrew Kalyniuk led the perch division with an 8 oz fish, followed by Bill Lazaruk of Oakburn with a 7 oz perch.

Miss Mildred Pawlak and Alex Shmyr united in marriage on July 12 at the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church. The ceremony drew 500 to 700 guests with a Rossburn reception and a honeymoon to Winnipeg as the couple plans residence with Shmyr family until fall. Out-of-town guests came from Regina Sask Alaska Ontario Winnipeg Dauphin and British Columbia.

Rossburn Council Meets on Tuesday July 19
The Rossburn village council met in the council chambers with all members present. Minutes were read and confirmed, the financial report adopted, and the constable's report received. A court of revision revised the electors list for 1955, with three parcels added to the assessment roll and two building permits approved. One Old Age Pension application was approved. Next meeting set for August 16.

Chief Constable’s Monthly Report Summary
The Town Constable’s monthly report to the council shows $101 in fines last month for by law infringements, bringing yearly fines to $323. Three arrests occurred for disorderly conduct and one for possessing liquor away from residence in a car.
Funeral Rites for John Tanasychuk Held at Rossburn
Funeral services were held Sunday July 17 for John Tanasychuk 82 who died after months of illness in Winnipeg. Born in Luk Ukraine in 1873 he came to Canada in 1901 and farmed at Birdtail then moved to Rossburn four years ago. Survived by his wife Eftie five sons and four daughters with Pallbearers named. Rev Glitski of Orkburn officiated at the Greek Orthodox Church in Rossburn with burial at Glen Elmo Greek Orthodox Cemetery.

Benefit Shower For Melnyk Family At Glen Elmo
