Rossburn Fair Plans Highlight 46th Annual Event
Plans are complete for Rossburn’s 46th annual Fair and Sports to be held next Thursday July 21. The event features 4-H calf show and sale with Garson opening the sale, 9 am judging and 3 pm sale, plus Ray Little Show two performances. An invitational four team tournament includes Angusville Foxwarren McConnell and Rossburn.

Shower Honors Jean Matiowski in Rossburn Parish Hall
A large group of over thirty women attended a miscellaneous shower for Jean Matiowski, bride elect of July 14, at the Rossburn Parish Hall. The event featured confetti as she arrived, pink and white decor, and songs including Here Comes The Bride and For She's A Jolly Good Fellow. Mrs. John Matiowski and Mrs. William Hyra wore red rose corsages, gifts were presented, and a luncheon was served by hostesses Maurice Michalchuk, Charlie Pawluk, and Roy Dereach with assistants.

Farewell Party For Allan Borys At Sandy Lake
A surprise party honored Allan Borys, Providence School District teacher, who will move to Cameron School District. Guests enjoyed dancing, and after lunch he received a brown leather Gladstone bag from residents and a money purse from pupils, thanking all in brief remarks.

4 H Club Rally at Birtle Draws Four Hundred Members
The Shoal Lake Hamiota 4 H Club rally at Birtle attracted about 400 members from forty clubs. Display judging covered clothing foods vegetables tractors beef swine and grain, with Jr and Sr demonstrations and a grand parade featuring 28 banners. Awards honored Barbara Farrish Don Findlay Myrna Barrett Donna Walker and other 4 H participants, while the effort of the Birtle Agricultural Society and Women’s Institute was praised.

Surprise Party for Chmelyncki Teacher
The parents pupils and friends held a farewell surprise for Miss M Michalchuk at Chmelyncki school on Sunday evening June 26. About forty five attended. Mr Frank Maydaniuk chaired. Miss Michalchuk received an electric table ornament and money. The party ended with a dainty lunch. She had taught there during the past term and pupils gave her an electric pottery ornament on the last day.

Two Houghton College graduates Miss Johanne Tidswell and Daniel Eastman wed in South Baptist Church Lansing Michigan on Friday June 10. The couple will honeymoon in Northern Michigan and then move to State College Pennsylvania for Mr Eastman’s assistantship at Pennsylvania State College. Out of town guests came from Connecticut New York Ontario and California.
